Buying lumber

Buying wood

When buying lumber, inspect each piece . The best way to inspect the wood is with your own eyes. Wood that is green will have shrinkage problems. Check for straightness by looking down the edge of each board, make sure it is straight. Look for knots, knots will cause problems, they are weakspots and nails should not be driven in them. Look for lumber with small, tight knots.
