How to Build a Shed

You can build a shed without getting plans, it is a simple structure. But for best results, and a nice looking shed, invest in some plans. It will be a small investment you will not regret.

Here are some of the steps of building a shed:

Find the location, walk around your property, with a tape measure, and decide were you will want to build.

Prepare the area by adding gravel, and leveling. By doing this you can protect the shed foundation from moister, and help it from decaying and rot.

The foundation will be first. The most common foundation is a skid. You can also build it with concrete. If you are building a skid foundation, choose pressure treated lumber. This will protect the foundation from the moister.

Walls will be assembled next, you can build the walls on the ground, and then raise and nail them to the floor.

Once your walls are in place, you can assemble the roof frame. Again, you can build this on the ground. Once you build your first truss, it can be used as a template to build the rest. It is important to build them all exact or your roof will not be even.

Next install the siding, roof decking, shingles, trim, and door.
